WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?

Physiotherapy is a health care profession with an emphasis on movement. Physiotherapists use physical approaches for the promotion of health and the treatment, management and the prevention of disease and dysfunction.

Chartered Physiotherapist

A “Chartered Physiotherapist” is a specialised member of the health care team. We are recognised by the medical professions and the Department of Health.

Chartered Physiotherapists have qualified with a University degree. We have the high level of education, knowledge, and experience needed to give high quality and effective service to patients.  Chartered Physiotherapists have achieved an extensive education in human anatomy, physiology, injury, recovery and rehabilitation.  A Chartered Physiotherapist uses this knowledge and skills base to assess, diagnose and treat conditions that affect people of all ages, thereby aiding recovery and maintaining the health of the body.

Methods of treatment

Chartered Physiotherapists primarily use physical or “hands-on” treatment modalities such as joint mobilisations, manipulations, various massage techniques and exercise to help their patients reach their goals of treatment.  Electrical modalities and Acupuncture are also commonly used where appropriate to reduce pain and help speed the rate of recovery.

Reasons for attending a Chartered Physiotherapist

When you attend a Chartered Physiotherapist you can be sure of:

  1. A professional, scientific approach to the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of your complaint.
  2. Seeing a therapist who has qualified with a University degree and who is committed to continuing education and research.
  3. Chartered Physiotherapists are recognised and covered by VHI, Quinn Healthcare, Aviva and other health insurance scheme.
